Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the first NWC website.  We are just getting it going.

The Northwest Callers Association is a realatively new group with hundreds of years of Square Dance Calling experience accumulated amongst its members and we are still getting fully organized as a corporate entity due to the fact that we spend our time talking, testing and working on Modern Western Squre Dance teaching and calling. The beaurocrasy gets second fiddle, if there’s time… maybe… if we have to.

Our mission is to improve square dancing by improving each other, talking about our sport, training new callers and looking into whatever it takes to make MWSD better.

NWC sponsors dances around the region periodically. The next planned dance featuring multiple callers from the Greater Puget Sound Washington State Area is anticipated for the “northend”, hopefully in the Lynnwood area on Halloween.  Details to  be announced soon.  Check back here and look for more information soon.

Another upcoming event, the first Callers / Cuers Technology Seminar.  The dates are set for September 5 thru 7, 2008 to be held at Circle 8 Ranch in Cle Elum, Washington.  This is a FREE seminar, save for the cost of “lodging” at the Ranch at regular Circle 8 rates.  Registration is still being set up, as this is a late breaking event and we are still rounding up the trainers to offer some great topics related to technology for Square Dance Callers and Round Dance Cuers.

Again, check back here in a few days to get further details as we get them finalized, but please set aside the dates of September 5 thru 7, 2008.  Feel free to make your lodging reservations with Circle 8 Ranch at camp@circle8ranch.net or call Rod or Taj at 509-656-2353. Refer to the Caller/Cuer Technology Seminar. (It is not on the regular Circle 8 flyer or schedule yet.)

If you are proficient in something related to technology and Square/Round Dance Technology, This is a call for volunteers.  All of us who are acting trainiers are doing this for the good-of-the-order of square dancing and callers/cuers.  If you would be able to share your abilities, please contact me.

So far, we are looking at possibly offering training on the following topics:

• Hardware connectivity. Proper procedure and pitfalls.
• Computer Basics: Files, Folders, Pathways, What’s that thing?! How do I..?! Well we’ll tell ya.
• Cool Edit Pro
• Ceder Square Dance System
• Dance Master
• Converting your vinyl to digital computer files you can use.
• Round Table Discussion
• We will have a dance to practice what we’ve learned
• and a maybe few more topics. We’ll be more specific in a few days.

Check back here and we should have the Seminar Registration procedures available online, along with more details. Again, the only charge for the seminar is your pre-registration with us so we can provide enough materials, and your lodging registration with CIrcle 8 Ranch.
